Today, Milk was curious about the glass of iced milk I was having, he noodled on over to stare, and put one of his chubby little paws against the glance. I figure he didn't much care for the condensation slicking the surface though, since he squeaked- probably too cold for him, and he padded on over my legs to come curl up in my lap and grumpily 'chat' in that adorable way he has when he has an opinion and is determined to make sure his audience of one is aware of it.

I'm not worried about the kitten milk replacer running low anytime soon, but I did stop by the animal supply store to pick up a few extra tins, just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. Sawnbone has some pretty wicked lightning storms in the summer, and occasionally the roads will flood: especially the lower lands near the church, where water wants to pool on the lawn. (It kind of seems like a bad place to place a burial ground, but it is holy land, so what can you do about that?)

He's gotten a little more adventurous, and Ranger Weston came over to help me figure out how to set up a proper play pen for him. It's not super serious, since he's a singlet kitten, and we don't have to worry about isolating him from other kittens just in case any of them have anything that could spread, but it is nice to give him his own little Milk Palace. Lots of pillows and blankets in there for him, he loves the red flannel the best.

Still no progress on the missing person's case. They've gone ahead and officially opened one up with the county, though Ranger Weston says that he doubts shutting down the roads will be of much use to anyone. If he's still out there, we all know he's got to be somewhere in the woods. People have been scouring over the landscape in marked out grids, but it's still slow going- the old growth forests are dense.

More flyers and team sign up sheets to be distributed at church on Sunday. I don't much see the point in it, the rest of the congregation is already aware of Father's disappearance- you can't be a part of the town and not be, by now- but at least it's doing something. For morale, maybe.
